Help stays open when written answers rest

Front Door saves its answer budget in steps. Checked answers, program pages and tools stay available for free.

Front Door stays free for residents when money for written answers runs low. A quiet line in the conversation says which step is running.

As the daily budget fills, our backup service can answer your questions, including in a conversation or about a page. It can also read your letters, and helps when our usual service is busy. Our Privacy policy explains how these questions are handled. Then common public questions get checked answers with a link to the source page. We do not use those answers for questions about your own details.

When the budget is spent, the conversation says when we will check it again. Search, the directory, program pages, the quick check, your vault, letters and reminders stay open. You can also call 211 to talk to a person. Questions about danger still show crisis lines first.
