A clearer front page, menu and footer

The front page reads "Whatever you need, start here" over a bigger box, says what Front Door reads, and the menu and footer now lead to every kind of help.

The front page title crowded its letters, the box was small for the page around it, and the menu was a short list. Now the page says plainly what Front Door is, and every part of the site is two taps away.

  • The front page reads “Whatever you need, start here”, set so the letters sit evenly on a phone and a wide screen. The box is bigger, in a bigger gray panel.
  • Under the topics, “What Front Door is” says what we do and how much we read, with live counts: all 50 states and DC, all 3,144 counties, more than 7,000 cities and towns, 672 state agencies and more than 67,000 local offices, checked against more than 72,000 official pages.
  • Ten kinds of help, each with its own page: Food, Housing, Goods, Transit, Health, Money, Care, Education, Work and Legal. Each one shows the federal programs that fit, asks which state you are in, then shows that state’s programs. “Ask about it” opens the conversation.
  • The menu has clear groups: Get help, Life events, Your account, For organizations, For agencies and About. It fills the screen on a phone and opens as a wide card on a computer.
  • The footer shows the same groups, with the ten kinds of help and a new page about the vault.
  • A short feedback form anyone can use, from the menu and the footer. Your name and email are optional.
  • For organizations now speaks to the places people turn to for cash aid, food, shelter, basic needs, health care and legal help. The painting behind the page is gone; the paintings around the screens stay.
