Sharing keeps less, and referral rewards are extras
Your share link is made only when you share. Private pages are shared without your code. Getting help never needs a referral.
Sharing Front Door should never leave a record of what you were looking at. And help from a person should never depend on bringing friends.
- Opening the Share button no longer makes anything. Your link with your referral code is made the first time you copy it, text it, send it or show its QR code.
- Pages about private things are shared by their own address, without your code, and we keep no record that you shared them. That covers having a baby, a new diagnosis or disability, not being safe at home, leaving jail or prison, losing housing and divorce, and every program page except everyday help like food, cash, energy, phones, taxes, child care, work, college and IDs. So health coverage, pregnancy, WIC, disability, immigration, violence and housing programs never carry your code. The Share sheet says so.
- The Privacy page now says that we keep which page your shared link opens, until you delete everything, and that private pages never get your code.
- Links made before this change that nobody opened are deleted. Links for private pages that people did open still work, but no longer carry anyone’s code.
- How referrals work now starts its rewards with: “You never need to share to get help. Anyone can send our team a note, any day, with no referrals needed.” To talk to someone about help nearby, it points to 211.
- Rewards for getting help are now small extras: a thank-you note from our team, a handwritten thank-you card, and a Front Door tote bag with a card. Scholarship and job rewards say “one-on-one” instead of “1:1”. The levels at 1, 3 and 10 friends stay the same.
- For our team, the referrals page loads its figures from running totals, so it stays fast as more people share. Opening a link only writes a count for a new visitor, and the count never holds up a sign-in or an application.
