Launch pages, fixed before the announcement
The Working Families Tax Credit page opens with its content, asks the right questions, and lists tax help only. Counts match across pages, and fields are easier to see.
We fixed what a review found on the pages the announcement links to.
- The Working Families Tax Credit page opens ready. It used to show “Loading…” with the footer on screen, then jump. Now the page arrives with the program on it, and nothing moves.
- The right questions for this credit. The quick check asked for household size and monthly income, which is not how this credit is decided. On this page, “Do I qualify?” now sends you to the years you can still claim, which asks how you filed, about your children and what you earned. Programs with an income limit by household size keep the quick check. Other programs, like TANF and unemployment, link to a few questions that check everything you may get.
- Tax help only. “Help you can use today” on a tax credit page lists tax help, like the Department of Revenue’s Working Families Tax Credit line at 360-763-7300. It no longer lists college aid or a DSHS page named “HR 1”, which we now name in plain words.
- Counts that match. The home page’s local offices and food sites now come from the same release as open data, counting each office once, with a link to see the release. Open data now shows the same local offices and food sites at the top.
- Fields you can see. The edges of text boxes, comment boxes, menus and pill buttons are darker, so it is clear where to type. They pass the contrast check for people with low vision.
- Better link previews. The tax credit finder, open data, each dataset and the page for officials now show their own picture when you share them.
- Small fixes. The open data table opens on Last updated and hides the downloads column until there are downloads. On a phone, the data viewer keeps the Name column in place and shows that the table scrolls sideways. Legal help and Safety, where they share a color, are called “Legal help, safety and other”. The model report writes dates like every other page: October 10, 2026.
