Warm referrals: an introduction, not just a phone number

Helpers introduce residents to places, residents agree each time, and the outcome comes back.

Illustration: Warm referrals: an introduction, not just a phone number

Handing someone a phone number is where a lot of referrals end. Now a caseworker can make a real introduction, and find out what happened.

  • On a case, a helper picks a place, writes what the person needs, and starts from a drafted introduction they can edit.
  • The resident sees the suggestion on their home page and decides. Nothing is pre-checked: they tick a box to share their name, phone, and the note, or choose “Don’t contact me”.
  • The place gets nothing until the resident agrees. Then it appears in the place’s referral queue.
  • The place updates the status: working on it, needs your action, got help, couldn’t contact, or no room. “Needs your action” comes with a note that becomes a to-do for the resident.
  • Every update shows on the helper’s case and on the resident’s home page.
