The open data page used to open with four big numbers and 52 cards whose usage lines were flat. It now shows what we built and asks the people who keep the best lists of local help to share theirs.

- **A map first.** Every state and DC as a tile, shaded by services per 100,000 people, from about 9 in Connecticut to 143 in North Dakota. Point at a state to see what it holds by kind of help; click or tap to keep the card open and go to that state's dataset. Pick a kind of help, like Food, to shade the map by it. Every number comes from the open data files and the Census Bureau's 2024 estimates, and "See the numbers" has them all in a table.
- **Checked, and when.** The line under the title says every one of the 102,438 services was checked in the 30 days up to the release.
- **One table for 52 datasets.** Dataset, services, organizations, kinds of help, last updated, license and downloads, sortable by any column, with the country pinned on top. A dataset with no downloads yet says "New" instead of drawing a flat line.
- **Add your data.** A new page for 211s, agencies, nonprofits, coalitions and food banks: their listings reach people searching Front Door, we check and refresh it on a schedule, host it free in HSDS 3.3.1 with an API and give it back, send corrections their way, show how often their records are viewed, and give full data access in return. They can upload a CSV, Excel or HSDS JSON file, point us to a public feed, or ask us to connect to their API.
- **Safe with files.** A file is checked by its contents before it is kept, stored as it is, and never opened on the site. A person on our team reads every request; nothing is added on its own, and shared data keeps its own license and credit line.
