Front Door started in Washington. On October 8 and 9 it opened to everyone in the country.

- The front page asks "How can we help?" with one big box, people to call, topics, and a map of the states. It has a calm look with plain words, and it never looks like a government site.
- Every state and DC has its own page, like "Hello, New York". It lists the state's programs under their local names (SNAP is CalFresh in California), the agencies that run them, where to apply online, and good-to-know notes.
- You can ask a question in any state, at /ohio/ask or /new-york/ask. The answer names the state's own programs and agencies and says plainly that each agency decides who qualifies. Front Door has no income limits on file outside Washington, so it never guesses one.
- Residents in any state can sign up, save programs to a plan, and get their answers packed to finish on the state's own website, by phone or on paper. "I applied" keeps track of what happens next.
- Letters and renewals work in every state. Dates and text reminders follow your own time zone.
- Agencies in every state can find their agency, join with a work email, and claim their state page.
- Local offices are on file for all 3,144 counties: county human services, public health, housing authorities and more, with phone numbers and directions.
- Answers now come through OpenRouter with backup models, so a busy model service does not stop the conversation.
- A private status page shows the team how much of the index is filled in for each state.
